How we verify listings
The short version: we read the business's own website, we write down only what it says, and we put the date on it.
Why this guide exists
The big wedding sites are national, and they are good at size. They are less good at the questions couples in Greenville actually ask: will 180 people fit, what happens if it storms at four, can we bring our own caterer, and how far is it from the hotel. This guide tries to answer those for Upstate venues, one listing at a time.
How businesses get into the guide
We look for venues and vendors that host or work weddings in Greenville and the Upstate, using search results and the big wedding directories to find them. A business is listed only if it has its own website we can check facts against and nothing on it suggests it has closed. Businesses can also ask to be listed. Listing is free, and every listing goes through the same check.
What the guide covers, and what it does not yet
Wedding venues, plus 7 kinds of vendors: photographers, videographers, planners, florists, caterers, djs and bands, hair and makeup. It does not cover officiants, rentals, bakers, dress shops or transportation yet. Some categories are thin or uneven, and each category page says so where we know of a gap.
Where the facts come from
- The business's own website. Every field on a listing was read there, and the listing links to the page we read.
- Not from other directories. We used the big wedding sites and search results to find businesses, never as the source of a capacity, a price or a policy.
- Prices only when published. If a venue or vendor publishes a starting price, we show it with a link to the page and a note on what it covers. If they do not, the listing says so. We never estimate.
- A verified date on everything. Each listing shows the day we last checked it. Businesses change prices and policies, so treat older dates with more care.
What we leave blank
If we could not find a fact on the business's own site, the listing says "not published." That means it was not on their site when we checked, not that the answer is no. We would rather show a thin listing that is true than a full one that is guessed.
A listing page needs at least three checked facts beyond the name and town (such as capacity, catering rule, a published price, a phone number or an address) before we ask search engines to index it. Below that, the business still appears in the comparison tables and its page still works, but the page is marked not to be indexed until we can verify more. One listing is in that state right now.
How often we re-check
We aim to re-read every listing's source at least every 90 days, and right away when a business sends a correction. The "checked" date on a listing changes only when someone has actually re-read the source. It never moves just because the site was rebuilt.
The numbers on index and guide pages
Counts like "18 of 38 venues publish a starting price" are calculated from the listings themselves each time the site is built, and each one shows the date of the newest check it draws on. A middle price is the median of the prices that businesses chose to publish. It is not a market average, and businesses that do not publish are not in it.
Drive times
For 33 of 38 venues we mapped the published street address and calculated the road distance and drive time from downtown Greenville (Main Street at Falls Park), using OpenStreetMap data and the OSRM routing engine. These are no-traffic estimates. Friday afternoon on I-85 will disagree.
Photos
We do not copy photos from venue or vendor websites. The photographs on this site are original and illustrate the guide in general. None of them is an example of a listed business's work, which is why listing pages carry no photos at all.
No rankings, no paid reviews
Listings are in alphabetical order. We do not publish ratings, and we have not hired the vendors listed here, so we do not describe their work as better or worse than anyone else's. Style descriptions are labeled as the vendor's own words. Basic listings are free. If we ever sell a placement, the page will say so.
Who is behind it
The person who runs this guide is a Greenville wedding photographer and videographer. That business is not listed here and gets no special treatment in any category, including photographers and videographers. The photos on this site come from that work. We use AI tools to find businesses and read their sites, and every fact on a listing links to the page it came from.
Corrections
If something on a listing is wrong or out of date, use the "report a correction" link on that listing, send us a correction, or email [email protected]. If you run the business, you can claim the listing and send us the facts directly. We still check them against your site. We aim to have corrections live within 5 business days.
